In early October, I had the privilege of attending the Atlassian Team '24 event in Barcelona, Spain. My journey with Jira began in 2012 on the Server platform as a Software Testing team leader, and since then I've witnessed the evolution of the toolset, as well as the ways of working it supports, through the expansion of Atlassian products and the shift to Data Center and Cloud initiatives.
Now I am an Atlassian Consultant and Partner Manager as part of the Director of Professional Services role here at Sourcesense International and seeing all the support and advantages being part of a Platinum Solution Partner with Atlassian brings. Given my background, you might think this wasn't my first Atlassian Team event—but due to various circumstances, especially Covid, this was indeed my first experience attending an Atlassian Team or Summit event.
The first thing that struck me at the event was the sheer volume of information provided to partners. Having experienced various partnership connections between companies, I can confidently say that Atlassian’s Solution Partner and Marketplace Partnership Programs are truly first-class. It was a pleasure to meet other Partners, members of the Atlassian team, and Community representatives for in-depth discussions and detailed reviews of the company’s strategy and future roadmap.
The second thought that struck me was how unique and special the Atlassian ecosystem is, encompassing our colleagues at Sourcesense, Atlassian staff, Partners, the Community, Marketplace App partners, and Customers. As I walked around the various events and attended the excellent presentations (which can still be viewed here), I found myself in many engaging conversations. We shared experiences and a unified goal: to make our work life—and that of others—more interesting, productive, and team-oriented.
Some examples of this include:
The Jira Guy – whose weekly podcasts and YouTube videos share a passion for Jira and associated tools. His 10-hour Livestream leaving party for Scott Farquhar was something to behold!
Arsène Wenger, the former Arsenal manager, delivered a fantastic keynote on the power of teams, motivating individuals, and the impact of mindset. One of his key philosophies, "Reflect to be more effective," deeply resonated with me, especially in relation to software teams and Agile Frameworks. It highlights the importance of strong reviews and retrospectives, where actions are taken to improve. Inspired by this, I plan to work closely with my team and customers to implement these practices in the coming months.
Meeting partners in person was a great experience and hearing about their roadmaps was very exciting - including Bogdan from HYCU, Yulia from AppFox and Abi from Adaptavist.
So what’s next?
Following such an excellent event there are always more opportunities and given the success of this event we are looking forward to maximising the opportunities from this event – for me especially getting time on Atlassian Rovo and learning of its intricacies and potential for organisations. I also look forward to having more of the Sourcesense team joining us to have this opportunity with future Team events and Conferences.
And now we have lots to share in blogs and posts - we are especially excited about:
· Atlassian Rovo general availability provides the latest innovation from Atlassian in cross-company AI.
· Ways of working on improvements including Loom, Focus and Jira Product Discovery Premium.
· Atlassian Marketplace application recommendation and a series of demos and articles to show how these tools can help with specific solutions to challenges.
· How Barcelona is a great location for events!
